Food is great ! Service is even better. They can be busy but the line moves fast. Nick does a great job managing the line and just checking in on everyone. Robin at the front is super nice and has great energy! Although the food was delicious with unique flavors I would go back solely based on the amazing service I received ! Ps: if you go the pancakes are a must

Look, this place deserves all the hype. Sometimes there’s a long wait, some of the menu items are a little bit pricey, but it’s so worth it. There’s something for everyone here. I love the breakfast sandwich. My wife loves the breakfast burrito. The lunch options are solid too. There’s some great specialty drinks. But of course, you must get the pancake. That’s a non negotiable. This restaurant is a powerhouse here in Philly and the quirky atmosphere and aesthetic is sure to give you a unique, yet delicious dining experience.

We had a great breakfast/lunch at this cool sort of elevated diner joint. Hip staff, friendly service and yummy food. What else do you need? Will definitely go back here when we are in Philadelphia next. Recommend!

Went for brunch and was overall a great experience. Be prepared to wait, but they have a very organized system which made it less painful that it could have been. The pancake was extremely fluffy and light. The citrus was not too overpowering but was different than any other pancake I’ve consumed. The showstopper was the pastrami, egg and cheese sandwhich. One bite of that and I was instantly transported back to the deli I would frequent during my childhood.

I’ve heard a lot of great things about Middle Child from random Social Media posts and decided to stop bye to see what the rave was about. When I walked in, it was SUPER PACKED and after trying it myself, I can see why. During my visit I tried the Strawberry Milk Matcha, Pastrami, Egg, & Cheese, and “Olivia’s Big Pancake” and long story short, it was all delicious. Although it was very packed, the staff still made sure that I was comfortable and it was very clean. One of the things that stood out to me the most was an employee named Jason. He was the person who placed my order at the register and he was very kind and informative. Another note I’d like to add is that the Menu is very easy to read and even has color coding on items that were vegetarian friendly and have the option to be gluten free. I’d give them 10/10 stars but I can only give 5 haha.

Daughter has been talking about Middle Child for months now, we finally made it in to celebrate her birthday. We were a party of six at 11am on a Saturday morning, restaurant was crazy busy but we only waited about 20 minutes for a table. The staff here are amazing, friendly, cheerful and patient. Between the 6 of us we were able to try a variety of menu items. Pastrami, egg sandwich, breakfast burrito, pancakes, hash browns and grilled cheese w/tomato soup. Every dish was delicious and very unique. Can't wait to get back here soon.

Came in on a packed Sunday with a queue that had people waiting outside. The hostess taking down names thought made it an entertaining wait so it went by fairly quick and once you’re in line inside it’s not bad as the space is decorated with many things things to catch the eye. Personally, I went with the pastrami, egg and cheese sandwich and Olivia’s pancake. Even thought it was pretty hectic but in there, the food came out sooner than expected and just the presentation left me stunned. The sandwich was pretty massive and had a nice amount of some of the best pastrami I’ve ever had. The fluffy eggs mixed with the cheese was just marvelous and cooked perfectly. Need more places to get behind the fluffy eggs wave because it’s one of the best things to come to the breakfast scene and this place proves that. Middle Child hands down proves that their pancakes are one of the best in the city as well. It’s a good sized pancake that you can easily share amongst the table but tackled it solo and I have no regrets. Pancake was soft but dense enough to make it satisfying and the citrus syrup is light and not overly sugary. A must try in all of Philly. A buddy had the hash browns and said they were nice and crunchy and paired super well with the cream. I’ll be taking everyone that comes to visit and be thinking about the pancake until I get another.

Incredible experience across the board. My wife and I were celebrating and it felt like they pulled out all the stops for us. Chrissy, our server, was phenomenal and made us feel so welcome and happy. The food was amazing (the brick chicken is other worldly good), and the service was impeccable with great teamwork from the staff. Loved it and will be coming back soon.
